Venus Transit - As seen from the Smokies

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

It all started with my mother-in-law giving us some those solar eclipse glasses. I had heard nothing about the Venus transit (one downfall of not owning a TV), so I did a bit of research online, and I discovered that this event was going to be pretty fascinating. And once-in-a-lifetime. My theory was that we might be able to view Venus against the sun with the naked eye once the sun got low enough in the sky. (Notice the little black dot in the upper right corner of the sun).

After scurrying up to this overlook in the Smokies, we discovered my theory was correct, and it was a remarkable event to behold. The next transit of Venus in front of the sun will be the year 2117. If you stick around for that one, more power to you. For now enjoy these images. CLICK HERE for complete story.

The print is UV/moisture protected with a satin finish coating. No glass comes between you and your fine art print. More...
